Clarity on where the business is going, and what has to change to get there.
Most strategic questions aren't really about which direction to take. They're about making the direction legible enough that the whole organisation can move with it. Our strategy work is focused on that: reducing the question to its essential form, testing the assumptions underneath it, and shaping a direction that leadership teams can genuinely commit to.
Typical engagements include strategic reviews, growth planning, market positioning, and the re-articulation of an existing strategy that has drifted from its original intent.
Finding where performance is being lost — and recovering it, sustainably.
Performance improvement is rarely about finding a single dramatic fix. It's usually a matter of identifying a number of smaller opportunities, prioritising them carefully, and seeing each one through. We work alongside operational leadership to review current performance, benchmark against what good looks like, and build a programme of improvement that holds once we step away.
We work across manufacturing, distribution, services, and professional practices — the fundamentals of operational improvement are the same everywhere.
Pre- and post-deal advisory — from first look to full integration.
Transactions bring together everything a business has been working towards, and everything it hasn't yet resolved. Our role is to help leadership teams enter — and emerge from — a transaction with clarity about what they're buying, what they're integrating, and what they'll need to do next.
We work on both sides of a deal: advising acquirers on integration, and advising vendors on preparation, readiness, and the story they'll need to tell.
An independent voice at the table — available when it matters.
Some questions don't fit a project. They emerge slowly, over months, and they benefit from a sounding board that knows the business but has no stake in the answer. That's the role of board advisory work. We work with chairs, non-executives, and business owners in an ongoing capacity — sometimes formally, sometimes informally — providing independent counsel on the questions that matter most.
Most of this work is deliberately quiet. It's a phone call before a difficult decision, a written note after a board meeting, a confidential conversation that helps a leader see a situation more clearly.
Support for founder-led and family businesses preparing for the next chapter.
Succession is the quiet work of preparing a business to continue without the person who has been leading it. It's rarely urgent, and for that reason it's almost always postponed. But the businesses that take it seriously tend to be the ones that navigate the transition without losing momentum.
We work with owners, families, and boards on the structural, financial, and personal questions that come with a transition — including the ones that don't get discussed in a boardroom.
Where a role needs filling at pace — with a brief to hand back stronger than found.
Sometimes a business needs a senior pair of hands in a role for a defined period — a managing director, finance lead, or operations director stepping in during a transition, a turnaround, or a gap. We take on a small number of interim mandates, and we treat them with the same care as our advisory work.
Interim roles are different from advisory work. They require getting into the business, making decisions, and being accountable for outcomes — not just recommending them. We only take these on when we believe we can genuinely add value.
Most of our engagements begin with a short, unhurried conversation. Tell us what you're working through, and we'll tell you honestly whether we can help.
